Recently moved to a 1200GS after a few years learning on a Dakar. Never thought I'd be able to handle the extra weight, but so far so good! My favourite riding is on a good dirt road far away from anywhere.

My nickname is Saul (otherwise Jacques) 57 years old.  Married with 18 year old son who will also start riding bike.  Had a 800GS for 10 year and bought a 1200Gs around 18 months ago.  Have done few CountryTrax beginners courses and an intermediate course.  Enjoying bike more and more and cannot wait to hit some dirt roads

I am new to the adventure type of bike. Have been riding a pocket rocket for as long as I can remember and am now looking forward to a new adventure.

I am known as "The Otter Man" and have been riding m/cycles since about 1973.

I've owned quite a few in my time ( Honda Mini Trail, Honda Dax, Suzuki RV 90, Yamaha RD 400, Yamaha XT500, Honda XR500, Honda XL 500, Honda XR200, Honda CR250, Honda 1100 Shadow, BMW R80, Husquvarna SM 610, BMW 1200 GS). I still ride the Husky to shake my fillings and throw it around when I'm feeling boisterous.

I'm really enjoying the 1200 GS and doing many outrides on tar and dirt with good friends.

My next machine? -  undoubtedly the newest available 1200 GSA with Full Spec for moi and a factory lowered 310 for my vertically challenged Wingman.

Greetings.

my name is Stephen Drew, am 50 years old and live in Knysna with my my wife Olga and our two labbrador dogs.Have two grown up kids, the one being the Etv weather man.Am also a very keen mountain biker.Went through the XT era and owned and road such bikes in my youth. then bought a 1200gs in Dec 2005.Had great dreams of traveling through Africa. Got sick thereafter which has damaged my balance nerve and could not ride my bike for over two years. have since taught myself to balance and have been on a Namibian off road trip and a shorter one to the Northen Cape. Were there a will , theres a way. it also helps to ride a gs.
Married, children out of house, self employed, have been biking as far back as i can remember but very little off road experience. Have done beginners off road trip with Andy pass Caledon which was very informative and trip with Jeremy to Barrydale for lunch. My brother also joined us on this trip and we both enjoyed the company
Hi, Andre and Wendy Reyneke, we recently joined the club and have been on two of the rides organised by Andy Connell which were excellent. I’ve been riding since 1973, road bikes, only having recently bought a 1200GS in order to enjoy the benefits of being able to travel on dirt roads. This makes me a novice regarding dirt so I’m keen to learn as much of this skill as possible. I’ve done both the BMW intro to off-road riding and the intermediate courses with Chris Hamman. We are now spending as much time as possible riding on dirt roads, trying to build up the necessary skills to safely enjoy this sport. We decided to join the club in order to increase our skills in a safer environment whilst socialising with like-minded people.
Returning to the Cape, relatively new to riding. Wanting to explore and use the bike for what it was meant for and not just to commute. Very keen to learn and develop my offroad skills!

Hi, I am 48 years old. Married with 3 boys. Having had a lay off of over 25 years from motorbiking, , I bought a new 800 GS. After a few club rides and tours, one thing lead to another and I now own a 1200 GS. Riding my BMW bike gives me great "me time" and I love it.
I am a construction project manager by profession but due to low demand for projects am currently running my own guest house , Arumvale , in Swellendam. My wife is the owner of Rain a body and bath product company with 8 local retail stores and one in New York. We enjoy outdoor living , and are fun loving always up for some action.
